Clearview Software, the leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions that complement and extend Microsoft SharePoint, proudly announces the release of Clearview ECM 5.1, adding significant new capabilities to Clearview ECM 5.0, released in autumn 2008. The 64-bit edition included the addition of a comprehensive Business Process Management module (Clearview Ultimate Edition), intelligent indexing and index validation, external data access, and compatibility with Kofax 8.0, while this latest version simplifies integration with the organization’s mission critical business applications and broader IT objectives.

Business Process Management (Workflow)

The most anticipated feature of the Clearview ECM 5.0 release was the Business Process Management module, or Workflow, which enables organizations to automate repetitive business processes for an immediate return on investment through increased productivity and business intelligence.

Automating business processes across an enterprise requires the flexibility to connect business roles, rules, and users. With Clearview, Workflow Administrators can quickly access an Administration Console to design workflows, which can be associated with a specific content item or assigned to a Clearview user (from the Active Directory), or group of users in a specific queue.

Information workers who can participate in the workflows can quickly access the Business Activity Monitor (BAM) to view the progress of their active workflows. Workflow Administrators can benefit from using the BAM to monitor all workflow activities and view real-time graphical insights (charts and tables). BAM charts and reports can be exported to Microsoft Excel for analysis or reporting.

API Based on WCF Services

A significant feature of Clearview ECM 5.1 release is the new application programming interface (API)—based on the highly regarded Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) services—which provides Clearview’s strategic business partners the ability to create secure, custom applications that have a tighter integration with line of business applications. WCF services are the most secure and reliable services in the market space. Furthermore, the API also enables business process management workflows to seamlessly interact with content in any repository in the Clearview Virtual ECM Domain.
